3. Measure the distance between the front rims at
steering axle level (front and rear of the wheels).
Note: You can also measure between the tread mold
marks if the tires are new (Fig. 328 - front and
Fig. 329 - rear).
4. The front measurement should be 1/16” to 5/16”
(1.58mm to 7.93mm) less than the rear measure-
ment. If needed, follow the adjustment procedures:

2. Loosen the jam nut securing the ball joint to the
steering rod (Fig. 331).

1. Remove the tie rod from one steering arm (Fig. 330).
