Important:Ensurethattheoperatorsafetymechanismsforthemachineareconnectedandinproper
operatingconditionbeforeyouusethemachine.
Whenaproblemoccurs,donotoverlookthesimplecauses.Forexample,startingproblemscouldbecaused
byanemptyfueltank.
Thefollowingtablelistssomeofthecommoncausesoftrouble.Donotattempttoserviceorreplacemajor
engineitemsoranyitemsthatcallforspecialtimingofadjustmentsprocedures(suchasvalves,governor,etc.).
Havethisworkdonebyyourengineservicedealer.

TheregulatedalternatorsystemprovidesACcurrentthroughtwooutputleadstotheregulator-rectier(Figure
105).Theregulator-rectierconvertstheACcurrenttoDC,andregulatescurrenttothebattery.Thecharging
ratewillvarywithengineRPMandtemperature.
Note:Stator,regulator/rectier,andy-wheelarenotinterchangeablewithotherchargingsystems.
