1-29 Automatic Motor Adaptation (AMA)
Option: Function:
The AMA function optimizes dynamic motor performance by automati-
cally optimizing the advanced motor parameters par.1-30
Stator Resist-
ance (Rs) to par.1-35 Main Reactance (Xh)) while the motor is stationary.

[1] Enable complete AMA performs AMA of the stator resistance R

and the main

.
[2] Enable reduced AMA performs a reduced AMA of the stator resistance R
s
in the system only.
Select this option if an LC filter is used between the adjustable frequency
drive and the motor.
Activate the AMA function by pressing [Hand on] after selecting [1] or [2]. See also the section
Automatic Motor
Adaptation
. After a normal sequence, the display will read: “Press [OK] to finish AMA”. After pressing the [OK]
key, the adjustable frequency drive is ready for operation.
Note:
For the best adaptation of the adjustable frequency drive, run AMA on a cold motor
AMA cannot be performed while the motor is running.
NOTE
It is important to set motor par. 1-2* Motor Data correctly, since these form part of the AMA algorithm. An AMA must
be performed to achieve optimum dynamic motor performance. It may take up to 10 min.,
depending on the motor
power rating.
NOTE
Avoid generating external torque during AMA
NOTE
If one of the settings in par. 1-2* Motor Data is changed, par.1-30 Stator Resistance (Rs) to par.1-39 Motor Poles, the
advanced motor parameters, will return to the default setting.
This parameter cannot b
e adjusted while the motor is running.
NOTE
Full AMA should be run without filter only while reduced AMA should be run with filter.
See section:
Application Examples > Automatic Motor Adaptation
in the Design Guide.
1-3* Adv. Motor Data
Parameters for advanced motor data. The motor data in par.1-30 Stator Resistance (Rs) to par.1-39 Motor
Poles must match the relevant motor in order to run the motor optimally. The default settings are figures based
on common motor parameter values from normal standard motors. If the motor parameters are not set correctly,
a malfunction of the adjustable frequency drive system may occur. If the motor data is not known, running an
