Changing the Engine Oil and Filter
CAUTION
Contact with engine oil can irritate your skin. Wear
protective gloves when working with engine oil. If
you come in contact with engine oil, wash if o your
skin immediately.
ATTENTION
Oil is hazardous to the environment. Drain engine
oil into an approved container. Dispose of used en-
gine oil in accordance with local laws.
1. Start the power unit engine and allow it to run
until the engine reaches operating temperature.
2. Park the power unit on a level surface.
3. Shut o the engine and allow the engine to cool
from hot to warm.
WARNING
Hot engine oil can cause severe burns. Allow the en-
gine temperature to drop from hot to warm before
draining the engine oil.
4. Remove the right engine cover to access the oil
lter.
5. Place a drain pan

underneath the oil drain
(A) located in front of
the hydraulic oil lters
on the left side of the
power unit.
6. Remove the drain cap
from the oil drain and
drain into the pan while
the oil is warm.
7. Remove the oil
B
lter (B) located on the
side of the engine.
8. Wipe the lter mount-
ing surface with a clean
cloth.
9. Apply a thin lm of clean
oil to the gasket of the
new oil lter.
10. Screw the new lter onto
the engine until the gasket makes contact with
the mounting surface. Tighten the lter 1/2 to 3/4
turn more by hand.
11. Install the drain cap onto the oil drain. Do not
overtighten.
12. Remove the oil ll cap.
13. Add oil to the engine. Refer to the Engine Owners
Manual for proper oil specications and capacity.
ATTENTION
For optimal engine life and performance, use Ventrac
full synthetic engine oil (Part Number 15.0037-1).
14. Install the oil ll cap and wipe up any oil spills.
15. Start the power unit and let it run at low idle en-
gine speed for approximately two to three min-
utes.
16. Shut o the engine and remove the ignition key.
17. Check for leaks around the oil lter. If any leaks
are evident, the lter may need tightened further,
or the lter may need to be removed, the gasket
and lter mount cleaned, and the lter reinstalled.
18. Check the engine oil level after allowing the en-
gine to cool for approximately two minutes and
add oil if necessary.
19. Reinstall the right engine cover.
