Using the Encoders
Here are typical scenarios regarding the encoder use:
Performing a Point-to-Point Connection
cc
To view video on a monitor in a point-to-point context (as opposed to using a video
management software), you have to create a fixed connection between the IP camera
(acting as a transmitter) and an S1970e-R receiver. You can connect to up to four
transmitters to this receiver, to create four different point-to-point connections. Typically,
both devices sit on the same IP subnet as SConfigurator and have the same VSIP port; to
access other devices, refer to the device discovery section in the SConfigurator User
Guide.
In addition to video, you can use a point-to-point connection to transfer audio,
input/output, and serial port (like PTZ commands); however, if one of the two devices does
not have one of these features, you will not be able to include it in the connection.
For more information about the connection procedure, refer to the “Managing Connections”
chapter, in the SConfigurator User Guide.
To perform a point-to-point connection:
1. Start SConfigurator.
2. In the Units tab, discover the desired devices.
The discovered devices appear in the Units box.

Note: You should not use the web interface and a video management software at the
same time, because they use the same connections without being aware of the
other tool. This situation may create configuration conflicts.
