11 MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
When carrying out maintenance and repair work, the safety requirements described in chapter 3 must
be observed.
Correct maintenance is essential to the operational reliability and service life of the machine. Since
operating conditions may vary, it is not possible to determine at this point how often wear checks or
inspections are necessary.
You should therefore devise the most suitable inspection schedule taking into account your local op-
erating conditions. Our specialists will be pleased to offer you the benefit of their advice.
Attention
We wish to point out expressly that parts and accessories not supplied by us have
been neither tested nor approved. The installation or use of such products can
under certain circumstances impair the design characteristics of the machine and
so pose a risk to safety.
The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage arising as a result of such ac-
tions. The sole risk is assumed by the machine user.
Danger
For all repair and maintenance work, the electrical supply must be isolated and
protected against unauthorized activation by means of a padlock
11.1 Cleaning instructions
It is not possible to specify binding cleaning intervals here. These must be ascertained in accordance
with the degree of contamination individually by each user. We recommend cleaning once every four
weeks in the case of single shift operation.
Particular care should be paid to clean the following parts:
The protective grilles and cooling ribs of the motors.
Bellows
Scales
Guides on the feed, blade clamp, clamping slide, grinding slide.
Limit switches, where these are not covered.
In machines with full enclosure, the guide tracks on the sliding doors. (After cleaning, grease
the slide tracks with low-viscosity grease.)
Note
Never use aggressive chemicals, agents containing solvents or scouring prod-
ucts! Only use cloths, which do not produce lint.
To remove encrustations, never use sharp or pointed objects. (Danger to bellows
and seals.)
Never use compressed air. After a complete cleaning process with machine cleaners, all the coolant
must be replaced.
Clean the perspex panels with soapy water or household cleaning agent without ammonia additives.
