M. Gamshaft,
removal
Special tools: 5199, 5201
Remove:
-timing
gear
covers
(front
and
rearl.
Camshaft, removal

Turn engine until cyl. 1 is at TDC
-
iniection
Aiways
use
the vibration damper center bolt to turn the
engine. 27 mm socket or
wrench 5188.
Both cy inder 1 cams should
point
obliquely
upwards.
M3
Remove
belt Irom camshaft
sprocket
Unscrew expansion
tank cap 10 release
overpressure
from cooling
system.
Slacken
coolant
pump
mounting
bolts and belr ten
sioner. Tighten two lower
mounling bolts
to avoid un,
necessary loss
of coolant.
Remove belt
from camshafi sprocket.
