7 Hygienic reprocessing
7.5 Reprocessing parts mechanically
Requirement The parts are presumed to be contaminated or heavily soiled.
Hygienic reprocessing is prepared (see 7.2, p. 30).
1. Refer to the cleaning and disinfection plan for details of agents,
dose, and exposure time for the parts (see 7.7, p. 35).
2. Soak the parts in mains water for at least 10 minutes.
3. Brush contaminated areas under running mains water for at
least 2 minutes using a cleaning brush until such areas look
clean.
4. Rinse off cleaned areas under running mains water for
2 minutes.
5. If necessary: Open bags.
6. Wash the parts in a washing machine with cleaning agent and
disinfectant but without a spin cycle.
7. Allow parts to dry fully in a warm place.
8. Rub zippers with a colorless dry lubricant (silicone spray).
Damage to the emergency backpack and the accessories bags
due to incorrect or too frequent mechanical reprocessing!
Spinning the emergency backpack in the washing machine may
damage the waterproof coating on the emergency backpack. If
the emergency backpack or the accessories bags are processed
mechanically regularly, this may reduce the service life of the
fabric.
Wash parts in the washing machine without a spin cycle.
Mechanically reprocess parts only if heavily soiled or
contaminated.
Mechanical reprocessing may cause certain materials to discolor.
Discoloration does not impair product functionality.
