5.5.3.3 Operation with only one fuel pump
It is possible to operate the engine with only one fuel pump. In this operation mode there can be
limits of engine power related to the number of cylinders of the engine.
Operation with only one fuel pump occurs, if you have closed the 3/2-way valve
10-8752_E0_3-4 in the HP fuel pipe of the related fuel pump. Then the fuel flows back to the
fuel leakage tank of the plant. You temporary have to close the related 3/2-way valve in the
conditions that follow:
•
If the HP fuel pipe between a fuel pump and the fuel rail is broken and you cannot repair
the fault immediately.
•
If a fuel pump is unserviceable (for example the fuel pump makes loud noise or the fuel
pump is defective) and you cannot repair the fault immediately.
Repair the fault as soon as possible, refer to the Maintenance Manual.
