Also, check if the printer is busy, the cable is disconnected, or the wireless connection has been disrupted.

The way the printer was installed on the network could also be an issue (determine if a print spooler or a computer sharing the printer is buffering all print jobs), and sometimes the job is simply complex (wait, no action needed).
