Troubleshooting at Install
For further troubleshooting information, refer to the User Guide.
PROBLEM PROBABLE CAUSE SUGGESTED SOLUTION
Grinding noise at power
up.
Scan Lock ¾ Power down.
¾ Locate the Scan Lock switch on the
underside of the scanner.
¾ Make sure that the Scan Lock has been
moved to the unlock position (

Packing material remains in

¾ Power down.
¾ Remove all remaining packing material from
the trays.
Smears, lines, marks or
spots on copies.
Document Glass or Document
Feeder
¾ Clean the Document Glass and the
underside of the Document Feeder.

Refer to the User Guide for cleaning
instructions.
Original ¾ Verify there are no defects on the original.
Irregular faded patches Toner unevenly distributed ¾ Remove the toner cartridge.
¾ Shake it gently to distribute the toner evenly.
¾ Reinstall the toner cartridge.
Paper Quality ¾ Ensure the paper used in the machine
meets the specifications provided in the
User Guide.
