  If your Xylem Water Pump is consuming too much power, consider the following: * **Head lower than rating:** This can cause the pump to pump too much liquid. Machine the impeller’s OD to the size advised by the factory. * **Cavitation:** Increase the positive suction head by lowering the pump, sub-cool the suction piping at the inlet to lower the entering liquid temperature, or pressurize the suction vessel. * **Mechanical defects:** Refer to "Defective impeller" and "Foot valve too small or partially obstructed".
