6-MONTH CHECKS
CHECKING THE AIR FILTER (YUM1A/
YUM2A)
1. Remove:
• Air filter
• Air filter element
Refer to “AIR FILTER CASE” on page 6-4.
The engine should never be run without the
air filter; excessive piston and/or cylinder
wear may result.
2. Check:
• Air filter “1”
• Air filter element “2”
Dirt/clogging/damage → Clean or replace.
3. Clean:
• Air filter element
a. Carefully wash the air filter element in sol-
vent.
Never use low flash point solvents, such as
gasoline, to clean the air filter element. Such
solvents may cause a fire or an explosion.
b. After cleaning, squeeze the air filter ele-
ment to remove the excess solvent.
Do not twist the air filter element when
squeezing it.
c. Properly dispose of the used solvent.
d. Carefully wash the air filter element in
soap water.
e. Thoroughly rinse the air filter element with
water, and then let it dry.
Do not twist the air filter element when
squeezing it.
4. Install:
• Air filter element
• Air filter
Refer to “AIR FILTER CASE” on page 6-4.
• The “UP” mark on the air filter element
must face up. Also, ensure the profile
matches the housing.
• To prevent air leaks, make sure that the
sealing surface of the air filter is securely
seated in the case during installation.
