PLAYBACK AND RECORD
The playback and record allows the Cantar to play a pre-selected file and to simultaneously
record a new file. The feature can be divided into 2 modes :
Clone Mode :
Cloning the last take (all your iso tracks) and redoing the mixdown track(s).
Live Mode :
Re-Recording : incremental recording (adding one track while listening to the previous
track(s) to produce ‘packs’ of tracks)
Dialogs that cannot be salvaged from production tracks can be re-recorded (ADR or
looping).
Telephone call, background music or wild sounds stored, can be played
and re-recorded (or not) during the 'live' recording.
I. Activate the playback and Rec mode
This special mode is protected by a general ON/OFF parameter in AUDIO & TIMECODE
PARAMETER Menu.
Once the parameter is ON you will have access to extra MENU within the Cantar.
To acess these new Menus (PLAYBACK AND REC BROWSER, PLAY, TEST, PPR AND RECORD),
hold the Shift Button pressed while rotating the Main Selector in the desired position. Playback
and Rec Menus have a dark green background instead of the regular grey background.
NB
: Sample rate frequency of the playback file must match the recording sample rate.
For now, only files recorded on Cantar can be used for playback and rec, a WAV import
function will be available in a subsequent firmware.
II. Live Mode
1. Select the file(s) to play (and how it will be sent to the Record InGrid)
Up to 5 audio files may be preselected to be played while Recording, called Playback banks (a,
b, c, d, e).
It will be possible to jump from one to another of those banks during the Record process.
Open the PLAYBACK AND REC BROWSER menu: Hold Shift while rotating the Main Selector in
the BROWSER position (7 o’clock).
The screen is divided in 5 areas :
Playback mode (Live/Clone)
Bank description (file ; location ; tracks)
Browsing Folders
