Chapter 2: Control Testing
W hy R un Control Tests
Control tests ensu re that both the m eter and th e test strips are working properly and giving reliable results.
You should ru n a control test when:
• The m eter is new
• You open a new box of test strips
• You leave the cap off of the test strip container
• You want to check the perfor m ance of the m eter
and test strips
• You d rop the m eter
• Your test results don’t agree with how you feel
• You want to m ake sure you’re p erfor m ing tests
correctly
About the Control S olution
• Make sure yo u use only ACC U -C H EK A ctive
control soluti on.
• W hen you first open the b ottle, write th e date on
the label – the control solution is good for three
m ont hs fro m that date or until the expiration
date on the bottle, whichever co m es first.
• N ever use control solution that has expired.
• Always close the control solution bottle tightly.
• S tore at roo m te m perature, between 36-86°F
( 2-30°C ) .
