an alternative site ( pal m , forear m , upper ar m , th igh, or calf ) in addition to
blood taken fro m your fingertip. Although bl ood fro m your fingertip m ay be
tested at any ti m e, there are ti m es when testing fro m alternative sites is
not ideal. Before you begin test ing areas other than your fingertip, please
read this section to understand which option is right for you .

• Because your fingerti p has m ore bloo d vessels, your fingertip and
altern ative site test results m ay be different.
• N EVE R ignore sy m pto m s that m ay be due to low or high blood sugar.
• If yo ur blood sugar result does not m atch how you feel, do a fingertip
test to confir m your result. If the fingertip result still does n ot m atch
ho w you feel, call your doctor.
