R unning a Blo od S ugar Test
Before running your first test , make sure you set up your meter properly and run a control test .
See Chapters 1 and 2 for details .
D o not operate the m eter without the test strip guide attached. For m ore infor m ation, see Chapter 5,
“Maintenance an d Troubleshooting.”
Applying Blood with Test S tr ip Inside the Meter
1 . U sing war m water, wash and then dry your
hands. D irty hands could affect results.
2 . Take one test strip fro m the c on tainer. Close the
container cap tightly. Make sure the yellow col or
in the round window on th e back of the test
strip m atches the yellow color above “0 m g/d L ”
on the contain er. If it looks green , do not use it .
3 . Insert the test strip, with the orange pad fa cing
up, un til it will go no further in to th e m eter. D o
not bend the test strip. ( The arrowheads are
al m ost no longer visible when the test strip is
inserted correctly. )
4 . Make sure the code on the m eter m atches the
code on the test strip container.
