• Cleaning the instrument exterior : Periodically wipe the instrument with a barely-damp cloth. User either warm soapy water
or isopropyl alcohol to dampen the cloth.
• Inspect sample probe daily
• If sample probe shows sign of fouling, it must be cleaned by gently wiping with a lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol or
cleaning solution for protein removal, such as Thermo Scientific Orion Cleaning Solution 900021.
• Why? A dirty sample probe may affect accuracy and repeatability.
• Clean cooling well weekly
• Use Swab Cleaner Kit dampened with isopropyl alcohol to clean cooling well.
• Why? Buildup in cooling well may affect accuracy and repeatability and may cause “Sample Did Not Freeze” errors.
• Examine exhaust fans monthly
• Ensure exhaust fans are unobstructed by dust or debris.
• Why? Dirty exhaust fans will cause internal instrument temperature to rise, which may cause test errors or component failures.
• Cleaning the Solenoid Semiannual
• Instruments used daily should be cleaned monthly, while instruments that are used less frequently should be cleaned every three months.
• Why? A dirty solenoid can cause “Sample Did Not Freeze” errors and can affect instrument accuracy and repeatability.
