4.1 LIST OF SYSTEM LOG MESSAGES AND USER ACTIONS
The following section provides a listing, by severity of system log messages that may arise during routine operation of
the analyzer. As previously described alarms and logs are viewed in the middle display area by selecting the alarm / log
button or using the F6 key to toggle between the system logs and graphic display respectively. The Logs Display, shown
in Figure 75, will indicate the alarm status, Log message, Severity and provide a time stamp the log was raised and
acknowledged. Once a system log is raised (1), the corresponding Log message (2) is displayed to inform the user and
that entry is also recorded in the Syslog file. Logs are categorized by ‘Severity (3)’ as Information, Minor, Major or
Critical. Information Logs, as stated, simply convey information to the user with no actions required unless otherwise
stated in the following table; i.e. clearing alarm tables. Minor, Major and Critical Logs are raised to indicate to the user
system issues that require urgent attention which could potentially affect routine operation. Each log is accompanied
by the time it was raised then acknowledged (4 in Figure 75), when hovering the mouse over the time displays the full
time and date of the log.
Figure 75: Sample alarm list where: 1. Alarm Status (Raised, Acknowledged or Cleared), 2. Log message, 3.
Severity Classification and 4. Time the log was raised and acknowledged.
When the list window is full the system prompts users to clear information logs in the first instance. If no information
logs are listed, users are then requested to remove all acknowledged logs. Finally if there are no acknowledged logs, the
system will report the table is full and users should clear the table.
The following table provides users with a list of Log messages (2) sorted by Severity (3) with recommended actions. For
additional information about displaying, clearing and deleting logs see Sections 3.2.1.5 – System Log and Alarm
Indicators p. 30 and 3.2.3.1.3 – Alarms Configuration Menu p. 45.
