Alarm Relay
The alarm relay feature is used for notification whenever there is a system event on the switch or an alarm
input. Notification is either by an alarm output, trap or by logging a SWLog message.
There is a single line alarm input to the switch which can be connected to an external source. External
sources can be temperature, proximity, door open sensors as examples. The alarm input status is also indi-
cated to the user by the alarm input LED.
There is a single line alarm output from the switch. The alarm output is user configurable for associating
any system event or an alarm input. Alarm output status is also indicated to the user by the alarm output
LED.
Alarm relay is supported on both standalone and virtual chassis (VC).
On standalone system: The alarm input, traps, and system events are mapped to the local chassis alarm
output.
On VC: The alarm input, traps, and system events are synced across all the chassis of the VC. The alarm
output on any of the chassis can be set by the alarm input, trap, or system events of any other chassis.
• User can connect different external devices (sensors) to alarm inputs of different chassis.
• User can map the single alarm input or event to multiple chassis alarm outputs for redundancy.
• User can map multiple inputs or events to single alarm output on any chassis.
The alarm status is indicated to the user by the alarm LEDs as noted below:
Use the alarm command to configure the alarm relay feature.
Events Input LED Output LED
Alarm input with action alarm output On On
Alarm input with action trap On Off
Alarm input with action SWLog On Off
Alarm output due to system events Off On
