(3.6.5.3) HH (Hi-Hat)
Parameter Description Value Range
Scan Time This specifies the detection time for the trigger
signal. Increasing this will increase latency/delay,
so the factory presets are set low, and it is not
recommended to change them. If you are
programming a new trigger, settings that are too
low will yield very unpredictable dynamics, and
difficulty getting loud hits. Values that are too
high may cause difficulty with rimshots, and as
mentioned, will increase latency.
0.4 – 15.0 ms
Mask Time Adjust this to prevent false triggers that occur
very soon after the initial trigger, causing a
“flamming” sound. Turning this up too high will
cause notes to me missed during faster playings
or buzz rolls.
1 – 128 ms
Mask Decay Adjust this in conjunction with the Mask Time to
prevent false triggers that happen shortly after
the initial trigger (after 20 ms). For example, if
you are programming an acoustic drum trigger
and the drum it is attached to has a long ringing
sound, this setting will help filter false triggers
due to the late ringing.
1 – 127
Pedal Bottom Important: This is an important adjustment for
the playability of your hi-hat. It determines the
point at which the hi-hat’s open sounds
transition to closed sounds, and also where the
“chick” or “splash” sounds are started. Higher
settings will make the “chick” or “splash” sounds
more sensitive, but may also make closed/open
hi-hat patterns more difficult to play. Lower
settings will make closed/open patterns more
realistic, but going too low will make the “chick”
and “splash” more difficult.
100 – 2048
Pedal Top This will generally not need adjustment after the
hi-hat calibration is completed. This determines
where the fully open hi-hat sound will play.
Adjusting this will subtly affect how easy it is to
get the various semi-open hi-hat sounds reliably.
2048 – 4095
Chick Gain Adjust the volume sensitivity of the pedal ‘chick’
technique.
0 – 200
Splash Sensitivity Controls how responsive the “splash” effect is
when you hit the pedal. To create this sound, tap
your foot on the pedal and lift it up immediately.
Higher values will generally require your splash
to be quicker, while lower settings will be a bit
more forgiving to your technique.
2.6 – 1638.2
Splash Gain Adjust the volume sensitivity of the pedal
‘splash’ technique.
0 – 200
