Operating Instructions
Opus Operator's Manual 6-3
6.5 Emitting Radiofrequency Energy
1. Verify that the system is in Ready mode and that the operating parameters are
correct for the indication to be treated
Note
It takes several seconds for the applicator's indicator to illuminate after entering
Ready mode; this is normal.
2. Place the applicator firmly and completely in contact with the treatment area.
3. Push and hold the trigger or the footswitch;
• The applicator emits radiofrequency energy.
Note
If the trigger and footswitch are pressed together, the buzzer will sound until the
footswitch is released.
4. Keep the trigger or the footswitch pressed for the full duration of radio-
frequency energy emission.
5. Upon completion of the emission cycle, release the trigger or the footswitch;
Note
During RF emission the system will emit an audible tone every 30 seconds; this
is meant to remind the operator to check the temperature of the treatment site.
6.6 Ready and Standby Modes – Idling Limits
If the system is left turned on and in Standby mode without being operated for
longer than 7 minutes, the system will automatically reset itself to Start mode.
6.7 Pause in Operation
As a standard safety measure, whenever RF energy emission is not immediately
required, the system should be set to Standby mode. If the operator should leave
the room, the system should be turned off as described in Section 6.8 and the key
removed from the keyswitch.
