6.5 Understanding Mass Flow
MassowratescanbemeasuredwithastandardorDrySamplerprobe.
Tomeasuremassowrateyoumustknowthevelocityoftheuegasinthe
stack. If you know this you can enter it from the control panel.
If you do not have this information you can use the LAND’s Flow Probe to
measure it.
You must enter the following information.
PRESSURE - atmospheric pressure.
WATER-thepercentagewatercontentoftheuegas.
DUCT AREA - the cross sectional area of the duct.
FLUE GAS TEMPERATURE - this must be entered manually if you are not
usingtheowprobe.
NOTE
Togetanaccuratemassowmeasurementyoumusttakethegas
readingsfromthesamelocationastheowprobe
Therearetwostepstomakingamassowmeasurement.
1) Measure the ue gas velocity of the gas in the stack from the location
youwillmakethemassowreading.Themeasuredvelocityisstored
in the analyser.
2) Use the standard probe in the normal way to measure gas
concentrations.Massowiscalculatedfromthemeasuredgas
concentration using stored information.
To Enter the Flue Gas Velocity from the Control Panel
1) From the Main Menu, select Flow.
Enter all of the information required on this screen.
For Probe K Factor, enter 1.422.
For Density correction factor, enter 1.000 (unless an accurate density
comparison can be made).
Complete the remaining settings on this screen to match your
requirements.
2) Press enter to save these settings.
3) Press exit to return to the main menu.
