6 Alternative Probe Options
6.1 Using the Smoke Probe
When using the smoke probe, a sample
ofuegasisdrawnthroughtheprobe
by the pump in the analyser. Smoke
measurements are recorded via special
lterpapersinsertedinthehandle
oftheSmokeProbe.Thelterpaper
records deposits of soot etc. in the gas
sample.
Note: Making a smoke measurement with the Lancom 4 consumes a lot of
battery power. Make sure that there is plenty of charge in the battery before
using the Smoke Probe.
Inserting a filter paper
The Lancom 4 is supplied with a pack of
smokelterpapers(701.616).
1) Removealterpaperfromthepack.
2) Squeeze together the sample line
connector and the electrical connector
on the bottom of the smoke probe
handle
3) Insertthelterpaperintothegripin
the top of the smoke probe handle.
Connecting the Smoke Probe
1) Connect the thermocouple connector
to the terminal on the analyser (1).
2) Connect the sample line (2) to the
uegasportontheanalyser.
The smoke probe is now ready for
use.
Measuring the sample flow rate
Theowrateofthesamplegasthrough
the probe will determine the sample time
used to make the smoke measurement.
1) Connect the smoke probe.
2) From the Main Menu, select the
Smoke measurement option.
3) Insert the probe into the sample port
and press one of the measurement
buttons.
