User Guide
15 Insight PC Software
The Insight software and full User guide can be downloaded free-of-charge
from the AMETEK Land Instruments website www.landinst.com.
Insight provides a convenient method to log and display Lancom data using
a Windows PC. The following pages are intended as a quick reference guide.

User Guide.
15.1 Getting Started
1) Connect the Lancom analyser to the PC using a Null Modem serial cable.
2) Turn on the Lancom analyser, and when the calibration cycle is complete
select Gas Measurements and press GO.
3) Start Insight and check the icon appears in the status bar at the
bottom of the application window.
If the icon appears in the Status bar refer to page 21 of the Insight
User Guide.
4) Create a User Table by selecting the icon on the Toolbar.
5) Select the User Table by clicking on the User Table tab.
6) Remove columns for gases that are not required by moving to the
column heading and pressing the right hand mouse button, the column
menu will appear.
7) Select Remove Column from the menu.
8) Create a User Graph by selecting the icon on the Toolbar. A User
graph tab will now appear. To view the graph select the User Graph tab.
9) Start the data acquisition by selecting the icon on the Toolbar.
10) Data will now be captured, at the data acquisition default rate of once
per second, and will appear in rows along with a date time stamp.
11) If the graph is selected, data will be seen plotted against time.
12) When all the required data is captured select the icon on the Toolbar.
13) The data can be saved by pressing the icon on the Toolbar and
entering a name in the File Save dialog box.
15.2 Example Application
Introduction
This section details a simple example application of Insight to a
measurement problem.
By following this example many of the features of Insight are introduced in
the context of making measurements.
