Setting Up
The ENC1201’s address
ENC 1201 Version 1.0 Page 11
Caution:
• It is recommended to switch phantom power of an input o BEFORE connecting the XLR plug to
the desired input. See “PHANTOM POWER” on page30. When using condenser microphones
that require phantom power, be sure to activate that setting for the relevant inputs AFTER con-
necting the XLR plug.
5. If necessary, set the ENC 1201’s audio and network parameters.
This requires the use of a computer whose Ethernet port is connected to the primary
Dante network (or temporarily to the ENC 1201’s PRIMARY port). This conguration
routine may only be necessary once, because the settings can be stored.
The ENC 1201 contains a web interface that can be accessed like a standard inter-
net page, like many commercially available IP routers. That is where the available
parameters are located. See “3.3 The ENC1201’s address” below for how to access the
ENC 1201’s parameters.
Notes:
• See “4 Conguring the Unit via its Web Interface” on page16 for the available parameters and
what they do.
• WiFi is only supported for conguration activities using the Dante Controller software (see
below). Audio data cannot be transmitted or received via WiFi.
3.3 TheENC1201’saddress
This device can be congured using one of the following internet browsers: Chrome,
Firefox, Internet Explorer (6.0 or newer) or Safari.
By default, the ENC 1201 is congured to automatically request IP addresses for both
Dante ports via DHCP.
If you already know the IP address, enter it into the browser’s address bar and press the
ENTER key on the computer keyboard (the following is only an example):
169.254.195.191
As an alternative, you can enter the ENC 1201’s host name into your browser’s address
bar. The host name looks something like this:
ENC-1201-XXXXXX.local
“XXXXXX” represents the last six alphanumeric characters (without the colons) of the
PRIMARY Dante port’s MAC address. You can nd this MAC address on the ENC 1201’s
rear or bottom panel. The host name may look something like this:
ENC-1201-0e10de.local
(In this case, “0e:10:de” would be the last six alphanumeric characters of the MAC
address.)
If other ENCHORUS devices are connected to the network, you can select them using the
“4.9 Browse Network” (p.45) tab.
