The next part we need to concentrate
on – the LM1084 regulators need to be
installed on the board.
They need to inserted a specific length
in order that they will meet up with the
holes on the Heat Sink. The left-most
picture shows the correct length of
insertion – the picture on the right has
some marks on the regulator to show
the insertion – the black marks would
line up with the TOP side of the board
– so we have about 5mm in total and
about 3 mm showing on the underside
of the board – the board thickness is
2mm.
Once the regulator is in the correct position then gently
bend the regulator flat with the board – the Head of black
part of the regulator will just clear the PCB.
Here is a view of the regulators bent into position.
Prior to soldering, you may want to place the filament board
into position to ensure that the regulator holes line up with
the heat sink holes.
