Figure 84-64. Protection, Incomplete Sequence (48) Screen
Protection - Starts per Time Interval (66)
The 66 protection element (jogging) blocks the motor from starting when the number of starts per time
interval has been exceeded. The motor manufacturer data for this example is 2 starts in 60 minutes.
Enable the 66 element, set the time interval to 60 minutes, and set the number of starts to 2 as shown in
Figure 84-65.

Protection - Restart Inhibit
Thermal capacity inhibit is a motor protection lockout function that protects the motor from starting until
the percent thermal capacity falls to an appropriate level. The motor manufacturer data indicates that the
motor can perform three consecutive starts from ambient. From a cold motor, since four starts are not
available, a start takes more than 33 percent of the thermal capacity and less than 50%. A running
thermal capacity of 10 percent was calculated using Equation 84-25. One start is available from running.
Because two running starts are not available, a start takes more than 50 percent of the thermal capacity
and less than 66 percent.
The Thermal Capacity Inhibit is set to 60 percent in this example. See Figure 84-66.
Additionally, inhibits for Time Between Starts and Restart Delay can be set. These are left at the default
setting of 0 (disabled) in this example.
