3.5.12 function introduction to TAS5112DFD
1. DESCRIPTION
The TAS5112 is a high-performance, integrated stereo Digital Amplifier Power Stage designed to drive
6_ speakers at up to 50W per channel. The device incorporates TIs equibittechnology and is used in
conjunction with a Digital Audio PWM processor (TAS50XX) and a simple passive demodulation filter to
deliver high-quality, high efficiency True Digital Audio Amplification.
The efficiency of this digital amplifier is typically 88%, reducing the size of both the power supplies and heat
sinks needed. Heat sink should have thermal resistance of at least 3.5 C/W and mass of 140 grams. When running
both channels full power continuously, adequate thermal design is required. Over-Current Protection,
Over-Temperature Protection and Under-Voltage Protection are built into the TAS5112, safeguarding the
device and speakers against fault conditions that could damage the system.
