19. Troubleshooting
Fault description Possible cause Required measures
General
No power supply. Check connection to power supply.
Wrong voltage. Check power supply for voltage of
115V or 230V.
Unit fuse has responded. Check unit fuse.
Safety device has turned off the
oven.
Allow the oven to cool down the
oven and press the “RESET”
button. Check temperature set-
point and setting of safety device
(chap. 12). If appropriate, select
suitable limit value.
Safety device defective.
Unit permanently turned off.
Controller defective.
Contact BINDER Service.
Heating
Unit door not properly closed. Completely close unit door.
Door gasket defective. Replace door gasket,
Set-point temperature is not
reached after specified time.
Controller not adjusted. Calibrate and adjust controller.
Controller defective.
Pt 100 sensor defective.
Semiconductor relay defective
Contact BINDER Service.
Chamber heating permanently,
set-point not held.
Controller not adjusted. Calibrate and adjust controller.
Heating element defective. Chamber doesn’t heat up.
LED (7a) “Heating active” lit.
Semiconductor relay defective.
Contact BINDER Service.
Safety device has turned off the

Oven fully loaded. Charge the oven less or consider
longer heating-up times.
Deviations from the
temperature set-point in
equilibrated state.
Invalid calibration Use the delivered expansion racks
only. Do NOT change between
aluminum and stainless steel racks
Reference temperature sensor
has insufficient contact to
expansion rack.
Fix the reference temperature
sensor with thermal conductive
paste or adhesive aluminum tape.
Wrong temperature value
measured during calibration.
Leakage current when using a
thermo element not electrically
isolated.
Mount a thermo element electrically
isolated from the rack.
Vacuum
Door gasket defective. Replace door gasket,
Safety glass panel defective. Replace safety glass panel.
Gaskets of small flange
connections (universal eccentric
ring) defective.
Replace gaskets of small flange
connections.
Vacuum not held.
Inner tube connection leaky. Contact BINDER Service.
