Checklist
Use the following checklist to
check important functions, set-
tings and wear limits before you
ride off:
State of charge of the high-
voltage battery unit
Brakes
Brake fluid levels for front-
wheel and rear-wheel brakes
Spring preload
Tyre tread depth and tyre pres-
sures
Security of the luggage
Carry out a visual inspection at
regular intervals:
Brake-pad wear (every tenth
high-voltage battery charge)
Starting
Pre-ride check
The instrument cluster runs a
test of the display and the warn-
ing lights and telltale lights when
operational readiness is switched
on. This test is known as the
Pre-Ride-Check. It consists of
2 phases. The Pre-Ride-Check
is aborted as soon as the brake
is applied or the starter button
pressed.
Phase 1
The 'general' warning light and
the symbol for the electrical ma-
chine electronics show red.
The 'reserve' light shows yellow.
Phase 2
The 'general' warning light and
the symbol for the electrical ma-
chine electronics change from
red to yellow.
As soon as the sequence of im-
ages reaches the end the ori-
ginal display (background and
values such as TRIP, INFO etc.)
reappears.
The power gauge shows the
scale-limit values in both direc-
tions (CHARGE and ePOWER).
If temporary warnings are act-
ive the corresponding indicat-
ors remain visible for approxim-
ately 5 seconds longer.
If a warning light or a telltale light
did not show:
Some malfunctions cannot
be indicated if one of the
warning lights fails to show.
Make sure that all the warning
and telltale lights come on in the
pre-ride check.
Have fault rectified as soon
as possible by an authorised
BMW Motorrad dealer.
