Installation for MIG/MAG set up with spool gun
Spool compatibility
MIG with spool gun (Aluminium only)
1. Select correct shielding gas for the application. Connect the gas
cylinder to the regulator.
2. Ensure that all power to machine is turned o󹟽 before connecting
thespool gun. Plug [B] spool gun euro connection into [10] euro
output connection.
3. Plug [C] spool gun control cable into [12] control connection (
).
4. Fit wire spool to the spool gun: lift up the cover, turn retaining screw
clockwise and remove, slide mini spool into shaft and adjust spool
tension using knurled ring on the spool shaft, feed wire through
front of the torch, and lastly, close the cover.
5. Select the correct polarity for the type of wire used as indicated
on the consumable packaging. This is achieved by swapping the
polarity terminal wires. For aluminium the terminal should be set as
torchpositive.
6. Turn machine on.
7. The MIG spool gun only takes the 100 mm mini spool of
aluminiumwire.

Spool compatibility
The BOC Smootharc 180 & 200 models take both D200 and D100
size spools in the internal wire feeder and D100 in the spool gun for
aluminium wire only. The spool gun is only used for aluminium welding
synergic setting 4043Al and 5356Al on these models.
Welding with the standard torch
If you want to use this machine for other functions not covered by
the pre-loaded synergic programs such as aluminium welding using a
standard torch you will need to use the MIG/MAG Manual function.
