8.5.16 Updating of Property Data (Function code 68)
îš„ Function
To keep the print quality, the controller optimizes the drive conditions of individual head/carriage
units according to the property data. For instance, the controller optimizes the head drive strength,
ink jet-out timing and other drive conditions according to the electromechanical properties unique
to individual head/carriage units and ambient temperature.
The property data is stored in the EEPROM on the main PCB and its property code is printed on
the property label which is attached to the machine.
If you replace the head/carriage unit with a new spare part, you need to enter its property code
printed on the property label (that comes with the new spare part) and replace the old property label
on the bottom of the machine with the new one. If the old part may be used in future, store the old
property label also with the old part.
îš„ Operating Procedure
(1) MFC620CN/425CN/420CN/410CN/215C/210C and FAX2440C
Press the 6 and 8 keys in this order in the initial stage of the maintenance mode.

Enter 6 and 8 in the initial stage of the maintenance mode by using the
and Set keys.*
(*To enter a numerical code on models having no numerical keypad, press the key several times to
display the numerical code to be entered and then press the Set key. Repeat this operation for each
numerical code.)
(2) MFC620CN/425CN/420CN/410CN/215C/210C and FAX2440C
Press the 2, 5, 8, and 0 keys in this order.

Enter 2, 5, 8, and 0 by using the
and Set keys.*
The current property data stored in the EEPROM appears on the LCD and the machine is
ready for entry.
(3) Check the property label that comes with a new head/carriage unit and then enter the property
code.
The code to be entered is 12 digits
excluding the heading alphabet.

To enter letters "A" through "F," press the 1 through 6 keys while holding down the # key,
respectively.
