4.3. USE OF THE 2032 FRONT PANEL CONTROLS
IN
ALPHA MODE
The Alpha mode
of
the 2032 allows the
operator
to enter user-defined
text
to
the
Display as additional annotation,
for
example, indicating the date,
time
of
day, mea-
surement
location, measurement conditions, measurement object, transducers in use,
etc
..
The
text
is read into either
of
two
text-strings, each consisting
of
two
lines
of
up
to
50
characters each.
In
order
to
read into the
text-string,
the 2032 must be switched
to
its
Alpha mode using
the ALPHA pushkey, that is the ALPHA L.E.D. must be on. The read-in
of
text
is then
as
described
in
the following sections.
On
completion
of
the read-in
of
text
to
the
text-
string, the 2032 can be returned
to
normal
operation
by pressing the ALPHA pushkey a
further
time, that is such that the ALPHA L.E.D. is off.
On
return
to
normal
operation
of
the 2032, the user is free
to
choose which,
if
any,
of
the
text
strings
is displayed.
