USE
OF
THE 2032 SOFT CONTROLS
5.1. INTRODUCTION
52
The
soft
controls
of
the 2032 are defined as those which are accessed via the 2032
Display using the FIELD SELECT pushkeys. Description
of
them is divided into
four
sections, namely, those associated with the MEASUREMENT SETUP, those associated
with the
DISPLAY SETUP, those associated with the CURSOR SETUP, and
other
con-
trol fields. Wherever possible, the name used
for
each
control
field in the
description
corresponds
with the name,
if
any, appearing on the 2032 Display.
In
the following description, any field shown as I I is user-definable. The allowed
settings
of
the field are given, as well as the
limits
of
numerical fields. Hidden fields
are indicated, that is those fields which are only visible under certain defined
control
setting conditions, as are
interlocks
between the various fields. An illegal setting in any
field is shown on the
2032 Display by the field starting
to
blink.
Settings are entered into the user-definable fields either by indexing through the al-
lowed settings
or
entering the required setting
directly
via the
numeric
keyboard.
In
the
case
of
numeric keyboard entry the setting entered need
not
correspond
to
an allowed
se.tting
of
the field. For instance, the Field Selector could be indexed
to
the FREQUEN-
CY SPAN field, and 1,4 k entered via the keyboard. Since the entered value does
not
correspond
to
an allowed setting
of
the field, the 2032 will round
it
up
or
down
accord-
ingly, and in this example, the 2032 FREQUENCY SPAN field would be set
to
1,6 kHz.
