canslipinitshousingandcausetheenginetooverheat
orthebatterytoreceiveinsufcientcharge.

Withengineshutdownandtheignitionkeyremoved,use
yourngertoexertapressureofabout10kg(22.0lb)at
thecentreofthebelt.
Thetensionslackshouldbebetweenabout6mm(0.2in)
and8mm(0.3in).
NOTE:Checkifthereareanysignsofweardamageto
thepulleysorthebelt.Checkcarefullytoensurethatthe
beltiscorrectlypositionedinthepulleygrooves.Ifthebelt
isstretched,crackedorfrayed,itmustbereplaced.

Adjustingthetension
Removetheretainingscrews(1)and(2).Usetheadjust-
mentscrews(3)tomovethealternatoroutwardsuntilbelt
tensioniscorrect.Tightenthealternatormountingbolts
(1)and(2).
