BRAKE WARNING LIGHT
DESCRIPTION OF CIRCUIT
The brake warning light circuit consists of a brake fluid level
switch Installed In the master cylinder reservoir, and the light (brake
warning light) in the gauge cluster.
OPERATION OF WARNING LIGHT
Brake warning light comes on at IG switch ON when:
z Brake fluid level is inadequate.
Parking brake light comes on at IG switch ON when:
z Parking brake is applied.
WIRING CIRCUIT
Refer to Section 16 Wiring Diagram Manual mentioned in
FOREWORD of this manual.
TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS
Trouble Possible cause Correction
Brake warning light(parking
Light fuse blown
Replace fuse to check for
short Replace bulb.
Brake warning light)shows no
lighting.
Bulb burnt out
Parking brake switch faulty
Check parking brake switch.
Repair.
Wiring or grounding faulty
INSPECTION
z BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SWITCH
Use an ohmmeter to check switch for continuity. If found
defective, replace switch.
OFF position(float up) No continuity
ON position (float down) Continuity
z PARKING BRAKE SWITCH
Use an ohmmeter to check switch for continuity. If found
defective, replace switch.
OFF position (release the parking brake) No continuity
ON position(parking brake lever pulled up) Continuity
