Symptom:
P0522 PRESSURE SENSOR LOW
When Monitored and Set Condition:
P0522 PRESSURE SENSOR LOW
When Monitored: Engine running and battery voltage above 10.4 volts.
Set Condition: The oil pressure sensor voltage at PCM goes below 0.1 of a volt for 0.5 of
a second.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
OIL PRESSURE SENSOR VOLTAGE BELOW 0.1 VOLTS
OIL PRESSURE SENSOR INTERNAL FAILURE
(G6) OIL PRESS SIGNAL SHORTED TO GROUND
PCM
TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
1 NOTE: Ensure the engine oil pressure is at the correct pressure before
continuing.
Ignition on, engine not running.
With the DRBIIIt, read the Oil Pressure Sensor voltage.
Is the voltage below 0.1 volt?
All
Yes Go To 2
No Refer to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION symptom in the
Driveability category.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER-5-NGC.
2 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Oil Pressure Sensor harness connector.
Ignition on, engine not running.
With the DRBIIIt, read Oil Pressure Sensor voltage.
Does the Oil Pressure Sensor voltage read approximately 5.0 volts?
All
Yes Replace the Oil Pressure Sensor.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER-5-NGC.
No Go To 3
3 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Oil Pressure Sensor harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the (G6) Oil Press Signal circuit in the
Oil Pressure Sensor harness connector.
Is the resistance below 100 ohms?
All
Yes Repair the ground shorted to the (G6) Oil Press Signal circuit.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER-5-NGC.
No Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accor-
dance with the Service Information.
