Symptom:
*NO RESPONSE FROM TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE
POSSIBLE CAUSES
NO RESPONSE FROM TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE
IGNITION UNLOCK/RUN/START CIRCUIT OPEN
FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT OPEN
GROUND CIRCUIT(S) OPEN
PCI BUS CIRCUIT OPEN
POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
1 Turn the ignition on.
Note: As soon as one or more module communicates with the DRB, answer
the question.
With the DRB, attempt to communicate with the Instrument Cluster.
With the DRB, attempt to communicate with the Airbag Control Module.
Was the DRB able to I/D or establish communications with both of the modules?
All
Yes Go To 2
No Refer to the Communications category and perform the appropri-
ate symptom.
Perform 40/41TE (NGC) TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION
TEST - VER 1.
2 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PCM harness connectors.
CAUTION: DO NOT PROBE THE PCM HARNESS CONNECTORS. PROBING
THE PCM HARNESS CONNECTORS WILL DAMAGE THE PCM TERMI-
NALS RESULTING IN POOR TERMINAL TO PIN CONNECTION. INSTALL
MILLER SPECIAL TOOL #8815 TO PERFORM DIAGNOSIS.
Turn the ignition on.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the Ignition unlock/run/start
circuit in the appropriate terminal of special tool #8815.
NOTE: The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to
that of a direct connection to the battery.
Is the test light illuminated?
All
Yes Go To 3
No Repair the Ignition unlock/run/start circuit for an open. Refer to
the wiring diagrams located in the Service Information.
Perform 40/41TE (NGC) TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION
TEST - VER 1.
