Cisco ASR 1004 Router Slot Numbering
The Cisco ASR 1004 Router contains two Cisco ASR 1000 Series SPA Interface Processors (SIPs) and
supports four subslots for the installation of SPAs.
Figure 7-4 shows the Cisco ASR 1004 Router with modules and filler plates installed.

Installation Methods
Although rack-mounting is the preferred method of installation for the Cisco ASR 1004 Router, you can
mount the chassis:
• On an equipment shelf or tabletop
• In a19-inch wide (standard), 4-post equipment rack or two-post, using the rack-mount brackets in
the accessory kit

2 Slot FP0 with ASR 1000 Series ESP10,
ESP20, or ESP40
