When towing
Distribution of loads
F Distribute the load in the trailer so that the
heaviestitemsareascloseaspossibleto
theaxleandthenoseweightapproachesthe
maximumpermittedwithoutexceedingit.
Air density decreases with altitude,
thusreducingengineperformance.
Above1000metres,themaximumtowed
loadmustbereducedby10%forevery
1000metresofaltitude.
Side wind
F Takeintoaccounttheincreasedsensitivity
tosidewind.
Formoreinformationonweights(andthe
towedloadswhichapplytoyourvehicle)refer
tothecorrespondingsection.
F Ifthewarninglampandthe
STOPwarninglampcomeon,
stop the vehicle and switch off
theengineassoonaspossible.
Braking
Towingatrailerincreasesthebrakingdistance.
Toavoidoverheatingofthebrakes,theuseof
enginebrakingisrecommended.
Tyres
F Checkthetyrepressuresofthetowing
vehicleandofthetrailer,observingthe
recommendedpressures.

onthetrailerandthehadlampbeamheight
ofyourvehicle.
Formoreinformationonadjustingthe
headlampbeamheight,refertothe
correspondingsection.
Therearparkingsensorswillbe
deactivatedautomaticallyifagenuine
CITROËNtowbarisused.
Cooling
Towingatraileronaslopeincreasesthe
temperatureofthecoolant.
Asthefaniselectricallycontrolled,itscooling
capacityisnotdependentontheenginespeed.
F Tolowertheenginespeed,reduceyour
speed.
Themaximumtowedloadonalongincline
dependsonthegradientandtheambient
temperature.
Inallcases,keepacheckonthecoolant
temperature.
