Operation
Going into engine STOP mode
The "ECO"warninglampcomeson
intheinstrumentpanelandtheengine
goesintostandbyautomatically:
- with a manual gearbox, at speeds below
12mph(20km/h),orvehiclestationarywith
PureTech130petrolandBlueHDi115and
120Dieselversions,whenyouputthegear
lever into neutral and release the clutch
pedal,
If your vehicle is fitted with the
system,atimecountercalculates
thesumoftheperiodsinSTOP
modeduringajourney.Itresets
itselftozeroeverytimethe
ignitionisswitchedonwiththe
keyorthe"START/STOP"button.
- with an automatic gearbox, vehicle
stationary,whenyoupressthebrakepedal
orplacethegearselectorinpositionN.
Special cases: STOP mode
unavailable
STOPmodeisnotinvokedwhen:
- thevehicleisonasteepslope(upor
down),
- thedriver'sdoorisopen,
- thedriver'sseatbeltisnotfastened,
- thevehiclehasnotexceeded6mph
(10km/h)sincethelastenginestart(using
thekeyorthe"START/STOP"button),
- theelectricparkingbrakeisappliedor
beingapplied,
- theengineisneededtomaintaina
comfortabletemperatureinthepassenger
compartment,
- demistingisactive,
- somespecialconditions(batterycharge,
enginetemperature,brakingassistance,
ambienttemperature...)wheretheengineis
neededtoassurecontrolofasystem.
In this case, the "ECO"warninglamp
flashesforafewseconds,thengoes
off.
This operation is perfectly normal.
TheStop&Startsystemputstheenginetemporarilyintostandby-STOPmode-duringstopsinthetraffic(redlights,trafficjams,orother...).The
enginerestartsautomatically-STARTmode-assoonasyouwanttomoveoff.Therestarttakesplaceinstantly,quicklyandsilently.
Perfectforurbanuse,theStop&Startsystemreducesfuelconsumptionandexhaustemissionsaswellasthenoiselevelwhenstationary.
NeverrefuelwiththeengineinSTOP
mode;youmustswitchofftheignition
withthekeyorthe"START/STOP"
button.
STOPmodedoesnotaffectthe
functionality of the vehicle, such as
braking,powersteering,forexample.
