Blind spot sensors
Thisdrivingassistancesystemwarnsthedriver
of the presence of another vehicle in the blind
spotangleoftheirvehicle(areasmaskedfrom
thedriver'sfieldofvision),assoonasthis
presentsapotentialdanger.
Operation
F Onswitchingontheignition,orengine
running,pressthisbuttontoactivatethe
function;thewarninglampcomeson.
Sensorsfittedinthefrontandrearbumpers
monitortheblindspots.
Awarninglampappearsinthedoormirroron
thesideinquestion:
- immediately,whenbeingovertaken,
- after a delay of about one second, when
overtakingavehicleslowly.
Thissystemisdesignedtoimprove
safetywhendrivingandisinno
circumstancesasubstitutefortheuse
oftheinteriorrearviewmirroranddoor
mirrors.Itisthedriver'sresponsibilityto
constantlycheckthetraffic,toassess
the distances and relative speeds
of other vehicles and to predict their
movementsbeforedecidingwhetherto
changelane.
Theblindspotsensorsystemcannever
replacetheneedforvigilanceonthe
partofthedriver.
