4. Place your thumbs in the insertion slot and flip the scanning area lid
back to its open position.
5. On the lid’s left edge, you will find a red strip. This is the white platen
cover.

Grip the top (flexible) edge of the red strip with your fingers.
6. Remove the red strip to expose the edge of the white-background-
platen.
