I/O
CHANNELS
The
Input/Output section of the
CRAY-l
contains
24
I/O
channels of
which
twelve are input channels
and
twelve are output channels.
The
channels
are assigned the
numbers
2 through
31

Three basic types of control logic for
I/O
channels are
available:
1.
16-bit
asynchronous,
for
which
three versions
exist
and
are
identified
by
their
module
types,
as
follows:
a.
OJ/OK
module,
used
for
MCU
interface
only
b.
OU/OK
module,
used
for
interfacing
other devices
(normal)
c.
OV/OK
module,
used
for
interfacing
other devices
(special)
2.
16-bit
high-speed asynchronous
3.
16-bit
synchronous (disk
channel)
Each
type of channel
has
the
same
electrical
interface
to the
I/O
cable
but
differs
in timing, protocol,
and
data
rates.
CHANNEL
