The rear accessory harness wires terminate
under the bed, near the bumper on the passen-
ger side upper frame channel. See Figure 9.41.
28. The Battery is located under the parcel bin,
beneath the driver’s seat.
Release the camloc fasteners and remove the
parcel bin to reach the battery. See Figure 9.42.
The battery is secured by a metal strap and two
5/16” screws. They can be removed using a 1/2”
wrench. See Figure 9.43.
Both terminals are protected by rubber boots.
The battery post clamps can be loosened and
removed using a 10mm wrench.
The battery part number shown in the first year
Illustrated Parts List is for the wet battery use on
the production.
The dry battery used for service is part num-
ber: 725-04514. This is a 12-volt battery having
a capacity of 540 cold cranking amps at zero
deg. f. (-18 deg.c.).
CAUTION: When disconnecting or removing the
battery, disconnect the ground cable first. When
reconnecting or installing a battery, connect the
ground cable last. These steps will minimize the
chance of shorting-out the battery posts with a
tool.
CAUTION: Follow all battery related precautions
outlined in the Operator’s Manual.
