CO2-Recovery Plant 32 EN/2020
4.2 Starting the CO
2
recovery
To start recovering CO
2
turn the main switch ON and after a few seconds the main screen
appears on the PLC. Then press the Start/Stop machine button on the PLCs touch display.
If the Unit is connected correctly and there is CO
2
in the connected fermentation tank, the CO
2
recovery process is now started. The DALUM CO
2
Unit is fully automated and self-diagnosing in
operation. In operation RUNNING will be displayed on the main menu and the capacity will be
displayed in kg/hour.
Note: If the Unit is not already in operation on a second tank, it will take a few minutes before
the Unit starts and the warning for low CO
2
pressure disappears. If there is no CO
2
pressure on
the inlet, the low CO
2
pressure warning will appear until pressure appears on the foam trap or
the Units inlet.
The Unit is now RUNNING, and the self-diagnosing system is monitoring all important
aspects/conditions to stay in operation. Check that the system starts up and runs for a few
minutes. Initially, errors such as too low glycol temperature may occur, and the system will stop.
In this case, make a reset by clicking the Start/Stop button on the PLC to stop it for a few
seconds and then start again. Check that the error disappears and repeat if necessary. If the
error does not go away, find the cause of the error and a solution to the problem.
Note: The first ½ hour, the system will typically start up slowly before reaching full
capacity of about 15 kg/h - if enough gas is produced. If more gas is produced
than the maximum capacity, the input pressure will increase from normal 0.25 bar
to 0.4 bar and the excess CO
2
will be vented through the PRV to the open air.
When using the Dalum CO2 Unit, you will experience a few alarms or warnings. As mentioned
earlier the system is self-diagnosing and warnings or alarms will appear to secure operation
which furthermore protects the system and its users. For more information on Alarms and
Warnings see section 7 Troubleshooting.
Note: When the CO
2
Units capacity is less than 2 kg/h, it is recommended to stop regeneration
and disassemble hoses.
