CO2-Recovery Plant 56 EN/2020
Regarding CO2 storage tanks, vaporizers and interconnection pipelines please follow
read and understand the vendor manuals and guidelines for installation, use and
maintenance.
DALUM recommend installing storage tanks and vaporizers outdoors to prevent hazards
in case of small or larger leakages. Moreover, follow local regulations for installation and
maintenance of storage tanks. Please note it is normal that CO2 tank safety valves vent
CO2 in periods with no usage from the tank. Do not change the CO2 storage tank,
vaporizers or piping unless under DALUM supervision and according to P&ID and other
documentation. Due to the volume of CO2 storage tanks the installation and use
requires approval and periodic inspections of a notified body. Inspection approvals
require test of safety valves typically every 4 years, please check the local requirements.
To minimize the risk of injury or damage, pressurized systems should be installed and
maintained according to appropriate safety standards and guidelines. It is important to
use appropriate safety equipment and to follow established procedures and manuals for
handling and using pressurized substances.
Fire hazards:
The DALUM CO2 recovery system utilizes electrical equipment that may pose a fire
hazard if not maintained and grounded properly. To prevent such incidents, fire
suppression systems should be installed, and employees should receive training in fire
safety procedures.
The pressure in pressurized vessels increases in case of fire and exposure to extreme
heat. The CO2 system including pipes and tanks is designed to cope with extreme heat
due to safety valves, but it may cause permanent damage to the system. In case of fire
heating up the CO2 system, leave the area and only let trained fire fighters deal with the
fire.
9.4 Regulatory compliance:
Various regulations and standards apply to CO2 capture systems - including those
related to environmental protection, worker safety, and product quality. Failure to comply
with these regulations can result in fines, legal liability, and damage to the company's
reputation. It is important to maintain accurate records, conduct regular inspections and
audits, and implement appropriate corrective actions to ensure compliance.
9.5 Cost-effectiveness:
The installation and operation of CO2 capture systems can be expensive. Therefore, it is
crucial to conduct a cost-benefit analysis that evaluates the expected benefits of the
system, such as reduced carbon emissions, increased efficiency, and safe supply,
