Dig Approach Trench
1. Mark path where you intend to drill.
2. Dig an approach trench (1) along the
intended bore path.
EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN - Turn ignition switch to STOP.
Jobsite hazards could cause death or serious injury. Use
correct equipment and work methods. Use and maintain proper safety
equipment.
To help avoid injury:
• Comply with all utility notification regulations before digging or drilling.
• Set up warning barriers and keep people away from machine and jobsite.
• Do not operate drilling attachment if bore path is less than 10’ (3 m) from any underground hazard.
Read operator’s manual. Follow safety rules and know
how to use all controls. Your safety is at stake.

IMPORTANT: Ensure that approach
trench is:
• deep enough for pipe to lay flat
and enter soil at correct angle,
• at least 20’ (6 m) long, and
• at least 4” (100 mm) wide.
