INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
2-38 EPT031055 Issue 2 September 2017
Installation Hints about the (safety) Performance Level
Please refer also to the schematic “X69 User Interlock / Start without
Shutter”
Basically there are two different possibilities to carry out the wiring of the
safety guard switches.
Wiring according to Performance Level d
means to connect both switches with a common positive wire, and the
return to the safety relay is indeed separate, BUT with the same
(positive) polarity. Thus an accidentally connection (short circuit)
between the returning paths would not be noticed except a partially-
operating-test is carried out. Such test means to open and close one of
the safety guard switches. If the wiring is in correct the relay will detect
a fail state.
Wiring according to Performance Level e
means to change the selection wheel to the “in2-” position (see picture
below). Now the relay expects GND returning to the interlock 2 input
“S22”. That means the wiring has to be carried out with 4 wires. A short
circuit between the interlock circuits will be detected by the relay
automatically.
The current standard factory setting of the PNOZ S4 in the BCP7 controller
is for Performance Level d.
